The West Coast of Cumbria near Gosforth is beautiful. The beaches are long and sandy and stretch a long way when the tide is out - although it may be a little chilly for a swim...
Seascale is the nearest beach, and the town has a children's play area and a great Ice Cream Shop.

Drigg beach is more remote, but has amazing views back across the Roman town of Ravenglass to Muncaster and the Scafell and Gable mountain ranges - breathtaking (on a clear day!)
The nearest towns are Egremont and Whitehaven - a georgian town with a recently re-developed Marina development with museums and cafes. |
