Whitehaven is a Georgian town, on the West Cumbrian Coast and has over 250, mainly georgian, listed buildings.
Recently redeveloped, the harbour has maintained its fishing heritage and is now a marina with walkway, museum and cafes.
It is the largest local town with high street shops, main supermarkets (Tescos and Morrisons). There is a market every Saturday.
There are stunning walks along the cliff top headlands to Fleswick Bay (with its own lighthouse) and further on to St Bees.
